Obituary of Walter Martin "Marty" Giles

Mr. Walter Martin “Marty” Giles, age 60 of Westmoreland, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, from several illnesses.  Mr. Giles was born to Marilyn Poole and Jack Spakes of Amarillo, Texas on November 9, 1963.  He was later adopted by Mr. Ray Giles and raised by him.  He attended schools in Amarillo, TX and joined the army in 1981.  He participated in many actions, including Desert Storm and Desert Shield as a paratrooper.  In addition to his time in the army, he also owned his own business, Steel Angel Services after the army in Amarillo, TX.  Mr. Giles moved to Middle Tennessee in April 2022 to be with the only woman he ever truly loved and to seek better treatment for his medical issues.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Walter and Christine Poole of Amarillo, TX and his brother, Michael Giles, also of Amarillo, TX.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Anderson of Westmoreland, TN, his beloved mom Marilyn Giles of Amarillo, TX, in addition, he is survived by sister, Marla Hinsley (Mike), and a brother, Marc Giles (Dottie), all of Amarillo, TX.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews, his favorite being Ashley Hinsley of Amarillo, TX.  His favorite cousins, Leland Giles of McAllen, TX and Ricky Giles of Buffalo, MT.  He is survived by 5 fur babies.

Mr. Giles was a Christian and had adopted the Baptist Faith.  He enjoyed fishing, doing home renovations, gaming, and cooking.  He also enjoyed all kinds of music and had a beautiful singing voice.  His favorite getaway was trout fishing at Dale Hollow Lake.  Arrangements for Mr. Giles will be handled by Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin.  A Graveside Service conducted by Reverend Jacob Haywood of Portland First Baptist Church and Mr. Giles wife, Linda on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be at New Hall Town Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin to assist the family with expenses.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
