Obituary of James David Ballinger

James David Ballinger, age 78 of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday April 20, 2016. Funeral Service will be Saturday April 23rd at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Malcolm Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Beech Cemetery, with Tim Ballinger, Keegan Ballinger, Josh Ballinger, Justin Darby, and Willie Escue serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Clark, and Roger Akin. Visitation will be Saturday April 23rd from 12:00 noon until time of service. Mr. Ballinger was preceded in death by parents, Burford and Avo Ballinger; brothers, Odell Ballinger, and Bobby Ballinger; son, Billy Ballinger; and grandson, Blake Ballinger. He is survived by wife of 44 years, Vickie Ballinger; children, LaSandra, Ronnie, Timothy (Kelly), and Tara (Justin); brother, Bill (Vicki) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Alan, Josh, Hailey, Casey, Keegan, Kylianne, Brody James and 4 others by marriage; and 8 great grandchildren. Following service in the U.S. Navy, James was successfully self -employed, first in drywall, then used car business. He was a loving man whose greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. When not with them, he enjoyed playing cards with his friends, visiting his brother, and mowing for hours.
