Obituary of Earl W. Thurman, Sr.

Earl W. Thurman Sr., age 88 of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday April 27, 2016. Funeral Service will be Tuesday May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Don McCullough officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Christopher Key, Cody Colter, Bryson Dowell, Austin Moore, Chase Dowell, and Kirby Moore serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Monday May 2nd from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Thurman was born December 19, 1927 in Bethpage to the late Tom Baker Thurman and Daisy Mable Brooks Thurman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Ricky A. Thurman; brother, Eugene Thurman; and sisters, Gracie Allison, Mary Whited, and Sue Delk. He is survived by wife of 64 years, Eleanor McCullough Thurman; sons, Earl Thurman, Jr. (Rochara) of Castalian Springs, and Rodger Thurman of Gallatin; daughters, Rita Moss of Gallatin, and Nancy Key (Ronnie McEwen) of Castalian Springs; brothers, Miller Thurman of Gallatin, Charles Thurman of Gallatin, Tommy Thurman (Linda) of FL, and Dewey Thurman of Portland; sisters, Betty Jean Scruggs (Bobby) of Westmoreland; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Mr. Thurman served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as his past time. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
