Obituary of Mr. Dennis Woodson Wheeley

Mr. Dennis Woodson Wheeley, age 78 of Portland, TN passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at his home in Portland, TN. Mr. Wheeley was born May 2, 1940 in Sumner County, TN the son of the late Loren and Gertie Wheeley. Mr. Wheeley is survived by three daughters, Denise Stephens of Fairview, TN, Dana Leduc (Larry Pearson) of Portland, TN and Debbie Brewer of Daytona Beach, FL. Two brothers, Harold Wheeley of Columbia, TN and Merl Wheeley (Sue) of Bethpage, TN. A sister, Katherine Roberts of Portland, TN. 8 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 24 step-great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Wheeley, two brothers Buren Ray Wheeley, James Aldridge Wheeley and a great granddaughter, Allyson Paige Wheeley. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Old Brush Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time Tuesday at Gilbert Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Johnny Day, Matthew Wheeley, Chad Pearson, Mickey Wheeley, John Wheeley and Alex Wheeley.
