Obituary of Mrs. Joyce Gail Ray

Mrs. Joyce Gail Ray, age 67 of Portland, TN, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. Mrs. Ray was born June 8, 1949 in Gallatin, TN. the daughter of the late Jim and Audrey Shrum. Mrs. Ray is survived by her husband, Joe K. Ray of Portland, TN. Two daughters, Sandye Maggio (David) and Helen Timmons (Allen) both of Portland, TN. Three sons, John Ray (Heather) of Hartsville, TN., Joe Ray Jr. (Julie) and Jason Ray both of Portland, TN. Two brothers, Roger Shrum (Carmen) and Ricky Shrum both of Portland, TN. A sister, Janice Wainwright of Portland, TN. Twelve grandchildren; Racheal Wainscott (Joe), Emily Whittemore (Randy), Christopher Parker, Adam Parker, Amber Likens, Tyler Rettich, Brooklynn Ray, Justin Ray, Cameron Ray, Camden Ray, Cayson Ray, and Declan Ray. Ten great grandchildren; Sean Wainscott, Dylan Wainscott, Emily-Michelle Thompson, Layne Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Allison Thompson, Kelen Steele, Ayden Harp, Bentley Ogg, and Adalynn Ogg. Along with her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Arthur "Bubba" Emmitt Likens, a sister Clara May Ray and several half brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. Burial will follow at Jake Link Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
