Obituary of Mr. John Leslie Roach

Mr. John Leslie Roach, age 83 of White House, TN. passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. surrounded by his family. Mr. Roach leaves behind his wife of almost 62 years, Joann (Poling) Roach. His son, Charles (Carmen) Roach of White House, TN. His daughters, Sandy (Danny) Oncale, Jennifer (Jack) Barton, Leslie (Steve) King, and Stacey (Carrie) Jackson all of White House, TN. A brother, Dick Roach of Winston Salem, NC. 27 grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Roach; his son, John Roach; his father, Everett Roach; his mother, Lucy (Green) Roach; his grandson, Joshua Caleb Barton; his brothers, Elmer and Don Roach; and his daughter, Marcia Ridley. John was born and raised in Clarksburg, WV on April 17, 1932. After graduating high school, he voluntarily enlisted in the Army, where he served our country in the Korean War. Upon returning home, he met and married Joann and started a family. Several years later, during the Vietnam War, he again voluntarily enlisted in the Navy and fought for our country. After coming back from overseas he settled in White House, TN with his family. He worked at Ford Glass Plant where he retired after 29 years. He was a Shriner, a lifetime member of the American Legion and a 32nd degree Mason. He never passed up the opportunity to tell a story or a joke. His wit and humor was memorable to all. He was passionate about politics, he was honest and protective, but most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather that will be greatly missed. A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either the Shriners Children's Hospital or the Susan G.
