Obituary of Thomas L. West

WEST, Thomas L., age 61 of Mt. Juliet, lost a valiant battle to cancer on June 19th, 2015. Born to the late Charles T. and Irene Y. West on July 6, 1953, Tom was a native of Waycross, GA and had lived in Mt. Juliet since 1988. He was a graduate in the class of 1971 at Waycross High School, and was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting and fishing. He served as an Air Traffic Controller for 28 years and spent 25 of those years at the Nashville (BNA) Airport. Tom was also a member of the Gladeville United Methodist Church in Gladeville, TN. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathyrn Schmitt West; daughters, Lea Huffaker (Matt), Kristina Cunningham (Andy), Casey Arnold (Josh); grandchildren, Victoria Huffaker, Stephanie Huffaker, Zachary Cunningham, Kailyn Cunningham, Reagan Arnold; brother, Raymond West (Audrey); sister, Debra Johnson (Jerry); father-in-law, Richard Henry Schmitt; mother-in-law, Iris Schmitt; and several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 22nd at 11:00am in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with interment to follow in the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will begin on Sunday, June 21st from 4-8pm and continue Monday, June 22nd from 9am until time of service.
