R.J. Silber was, quite simply, one of THE most wonderful people I have EVER met in this lifetime...and for his other friends and family, I KNOW you KNOW what I mean when I say that.
I first met him in 1989 when I was applying for a a job working with him at a real estate developer in Irvine, CA. As most job recruiters tell you to wear "muted" colors when going for the interview, I am, rather, one of those people who "marches to the beat of a different drum" and decided to forget that, wearing a cardinal red suit and "hoping" that he wouldn't mind! Not only did I get the job for being "brave," we became friends, relationship which lasted until his passing which I was shocked to hear of because of his dynamic, indomitable spirit.
He and his dear wife, Mary (what a couple!), invited me to stay with them in the late 1990's at their Pine, CO home. We had a most enjoyable time with both the consummate "hosts" for a week full of fun.
As the years went by, he again, invited me to join them at their new place outside Nashville, although his health had been going downhill for awhile. Even with this new reality, he STILL maintained his "larger than life" personality and upbeat attitude, so I wasn't aware of the reality.
R.J. was TRULY one of THE most remarkably upbeat, kind, friendly and FUN people I have had the pleasure of knowing in this life...and he brought GREAT "joy" for which, I'm sure, he will be greatly rewarded in Heaven as we were in knowing him here....:-)
