Obituary of Bessie Marie White

Ms. Bessie Marie Russell White was born on April 24, 1921in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Harvey Russell and Altha Jane West Russell. She was one of six siblings born into this union. She was married to Cleveland "Bob" White on August 26, 1939, sharing fifty-nine wonderful years together. They raised two sons, Willard and Lewis. Bessie and Bob owned and operated "White's Market" here in Lafayette for many years. They were located across from Lafayette Manufacturing and Polston's Building Supply. Every day at lunch the store was packed with customers keeping Bessie busy making sandwiches, and running the cash register. Bessie's customers always felt welcomed, and she had a personality everyone enjoyed begin around. Bessie loved going on trips with her family. Whether on a boat enjoying the sun or going to the Smoky Mountains, Bessie always had a good time. Her husband, Bob passed away on November 8th, 1998. Besides her husband and parents; three brothers, Petty Russell, Jake Russell, and Cayce Russell, and two sisters, Julie Britt and Lucy Harwood also preceded her in death. On Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the age of 92, Bessie took her last breath here on Earth. Bessie will be greatly missed by her family and all those who called her their friend. Funeral Services for Bessie Marie White were conducted Thursday, March 6th., at 1 pm from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Dwight Dyer officiating. Maxey Wilson served as Honorary Pallbearer. Nelson White, Tony White, Jonathan Roark, Neal White, Jacob White, A.J. Wilson, and Cayce White served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park. Ms. Bessie is survived by; Sons, Willard White, and Lewis (Charlene) White all of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Nelson (Kim) White, Tony (Jennifer) White, Neal (Gina) White, Tina (Wayne) Wilson, and Kim (Jeff) Roark, and seven Great-Grandchildren.
