Obituary of Dean Griffin

Iris Bernidean Griffin, better known as Dean, was born on August 21, 1932 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Charlie Oakley Sexton and Ethel Gammons Sexton. She was married on November 27, 1967 to Lloyd Robert Griffin, Jr., sharing thirty-seven years together. On May 26, 2004, her husband Lloyd passed away. Dean had four children in her first marriage, Bobby Ray Presley, Raymond William Presley, and Randy Presley, and Dinah Fasha Ballard. Then later she had two sons, Robert Keith Griffin and William Kelley Griffin in her second marriage. Besides her husband and parents; sons, Raymond William Presley and Randall "Randy" Presley, daughter, Dinah Fasha Ballard, brothers, Schelie Sexton and Bratton Sexton and nine other siblings also preceded her in death. Dean loved taking care of her family and home. She worked as a cook for several years and was cooking for Susie Q's Restaurant when she retired. Working in her garden, or sewing, and crafting were just a few things that Dean enjoyed doing. She was saved as a young girl and was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church. On Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the age of 81, the Lord called Dean to her new home. She will be sadly missed down here, but our loss is Heaven's Gain. Funeral services for Ms. Dean Griffin were conducted on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Bruce Kirby officiating. Derrick George, Austin Williams, Darrel Coffee, Tony Presley, Nathan Romine, and James York served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Ms. Dean is survived by; Sons, Bobby Ray Presley of Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert Keith (Karie) Griffin, and William Kelley Griffin all of Lafayette, TN, fifteen Grandchildren, and twenty-one Great-Grandchildren also survive.
