Obituary of William P. Meador

William Pleasant Meador, better known as Bill, was born on April 14, 1924 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Albert Roscoe Meador and Lavesta Williams Meador. At the age of 19, Bill went into the Navy during World War II, serving his country two years, nine months and eighteen days. After returning home, Bill finished his education with two years of college. He became a bookkeeper, later working for Smith Motor Sales until retiring in 2010. On January 1, 1949, he married the former Velma Naomi Law, sharing fifty-six years together. They had a wonderful life together and shared one daughter, Nancy. Naomi passed away in 2005. Besides his wife and parents; brothers, Weldon Meador, sisters, Mildred Whitley, Edith Shoulders, and Doris Carver also preceded him in death. Bill liked to spend a lot of his time watching sports on television. On Thursday, March 13, 2014, Bill went to meet Naomi in Heaven. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. Funeral services for Mr. William P. "Bill" Meador will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder J.B. Shoulders officiating. Mike Scruggs, Paul Stafford, and Ronnie Stafford served as Honorary Pallbearers. Tim Harp, Justin Harp, Jeffery Scruggs, Tim Smith, Micky Donnell, and Freddie Scruggs served as Active Pallbearers. Interment will be follow in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Bill is survived by; Daughter and Son-in-law, Nancy (Mike) Scruggs, Grandchildren, Christy Scruggs, and Jeffery Scruggs, and Great-grandchild, Micky Donnell all of Murfreesboro, TN, Nieces, Danna (Tim) Harp of Lafayette, TN, Paulette (Paul) Stafford of Hendersonville, TN, great niece and nephews, Justin Harp, Penny DiPiazza, and Ronnie Stafford, sisters-in-law, Rulene Cothron of Lafayette, TN, and Helen Doss of Indianapolis.
