Obituary of Essie Gladine Bush Steen

Gladine Steen was born on September 25, 1930 to the late Otis and Pearl Nixon Bush of Red Boiling Springs. She was one of twelve children and only eight lived to adulthood. She was married on March 1, 1947 to the late Charles Douglas Steen who preceded her in death on December 5, 1959. Born to this union were three daughters, Carole Gregory and husband Jimmy, Dianah Dunlap and husband Tommy, and Glendia Brooks and husband Jerry all of Lafayette, TN. She was saved as a young woman and later joined Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, Gladine was preceded in death by; granddaughter, Holly Reyna Brooks, two brothers Vernon and Porter Bush, and three sisters, Ellizabeth Swafford, Margie Graves, and Tommie Glass. Gladin retired from American greetings in 2001. She enjoyed working in her garden and flowers. Gladine also loved caring for her pets. Before going to Knollwood Manor in 2008, she loved spending time with grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to take them to get ice cream. On Friday, March 14, 2014, the Angles took Gladine to her new home and she is now basking in the wonders of Heaven. Funeral services for Ms. Gladine Steen were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 pm from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jeff Blackwell and Elder Ricky White officiating. Interment followed in the Roark Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Garrett Evetts and Colt Miller. Active Pallbearers were Paul Kirby, Rusty Kirby, Ricky Brown, Chris Evetts, Ryan Evetts, and Andy Miller. Gladine is survived by; Daughters, Carole (Jimmy) Gregory, Dianah (Tommy) Dunlap, and Glendia (Jerry) Brooks all of Lafayette, TN, Sisters, Linda (Paul) Kirby and Joyce (Dan) Wilkerson, Granddaughters, Penny (Chris) Evetts, and Kristy (Andy) Miller, four Great-Grandchildren, and two Great-Great-Grandchildren also survive.
