Obituary of Lewis Eugene Gunter

Mr. Lewis Eugene Gunter was born on December 25, 1938 to the late Jessie Lawrence Gunter ad Mary Olive Curtis Gunter in Nashville, Tennessee. He was one of nine children born to this union. Besides his parents; four brothers, Lush Gunter, Jess Lawrence Gunter, Jr., Robert Gunter, and Herb Gunter, and two sisters, Mary Strawmat, Annie Polk, and one infant sister also preceded Lewis in death. In the fifty's, Lewis served in the United States Air Force. After returning home, Lewis went to work as an auto mechanic, working for Western Auto until retiring. On November 28, 1955, he married the former Betty Gail Arnold sharing fifty-eight years together. They have been blessed with a large family; six children, twenty grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren. Lewis loved spending the day with his family and going fishing with his friends. On August 2, 2014, at the age of seventy-five, Lewis left this world for his new home. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Lewis is survived by; Wife, Betty Gail Gunter of the Pumpkintown Community of Macon County, TN, Daughters, Debra (Tim) Boren of Portland, TN, Gina (Charles) Scoggins of Pleasant Shade, TN, and Tina (Jeff) Grant of Lafayette, TN, Sons, David (Lisa) Gunter and John (Sherry) Gunter all of Lafayette, TN, and Chris (Tammy) Gunter of Westmoreland, Brother, Jack Gunter of Key West, Florida, twenty Grandchildren, and thirty-two Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Services for Lewis Gunter were conducted on Wednesday, August 6th, at 1 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Chaplain Dwight Henry officiating. Christopher Gunter, Charlie Scoggins, Kirt Taylor, and Tim Boren served as Honorary Pallbearers. Charles Scoggins, Jr., Christopher Lee Edward Gunter, John Gunter, David Gunter, Caylon Bolton, Eugene Bray, John Law, and David Harper served as Active Pallbearers.
