Obituary of Gwendolyn Woodruff

Gwendolyn Carol Woodruff was born on May 13, 1944, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to the late James Ellis Johnson, Sr. and Ola Virginia White Johnson. She was one of seven children born to this union. Gwen was married to James Woodruff and was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters. James preceded her in death. She then met Marvin, and they spent many wonderful years together. Gwen owned and operated Gwen's Dairy Delight for fifteen years. Along with her parents and husband, Gwen was preceded in death by her infant son, Henry Woodruff, brothers, James Ellis Johnson, Jr. and Will Rodgers Johnson, and her sisters, Esther Irene White and Ellen Lohr. On Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2016, at the age of seventy-one Gwen was called to her eternal home. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed terribly here on earth. Gwen Woodruff is survived by; Son, James Woodruff; Daughters, Carol Ann Castillo and husband, Francisco Galindo, and Virginia Kate Woodruff; Sisters, Mary Schrecengost and husband, Carl, and Eva Latham; Companion, Marvin Tarkington; five Grandchildren, three Great-Grandchildren and Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services for Gwen Woodruff were conducted at the Macon County Memorial Gardens on Friday, January 8, 2016 with Reverend Landy Presley officiating. Interment followed.
