Obituary of James Caruthers

James Caruthers, Jr., was born on July 22, 1926, to the late James Leston Caruthers, Sr. and Jewell Walrond Caruthers. Junior served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Lafayette First Baptist Church. Junior worked at Carter Automotive here in Lafayette for a while and then retired from GF Furniture in Gallatin, Tennessee after twenty-six years of service. He enjoyed the great outdoors. Junior really wasn't a hunter, but wanted to ride around with Steve just to get a glimpse of the wildlife, especially the deer. Along with his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Oakley Caruthers, and his brother, Edison Caruthers. Very early Monday morning, January 25, 2016 at the age of eighty-nine years, six months, and three days, Junior was called to his eternal home. He will be greatly missed by his dear family and friends. Junior is survived by; Son, Steve Caruthers and fiancé, Renee Hamilton, of Lafayette; and Sister, Betty Sue Thompson of Greenbrier. Funeral services for Junior Caruthers were conducted on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1 PM from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Pastor John Racioppa officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were; W.C. Smith, Ron Cassetty, Ray Comer, Lannie Pedigo, Michael Knight, and Adam Milby.
