Obituary of Dewey Eldred Brawner

Dewey Eldred Brawner was born on August 13, 1941, in Lafayette, Tennessee, to the late Louil Simpson Brawner and Bonnie Mai Goad Brawner. He was one of eight children born to this union. Dewey was saved at a young age and was a faithful member of Miller's Chapel General Baptist Church. He retired from General Electric/Bosch as a machine operator after twenty-seven years of service. He married the love of his life, Sue Neal Scruggs on August 10, 1963 and they spent fifty-two wonderful years together. To this union four children were born and they were loved very much. Dewey loved to travel and enjoyed billiards and playing cards. He also loved singing, fishing, and family reunions. Dewey always had a smile on his face. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be greatly missed. Along with his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Ryker Shultz, Brother, Odene Brawner, and nephew, Josh Brawner. On Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the age of seventy-four years, six months, and three days, Dewey was called to his Heavenly home. He is now singing and rejoicing with his Lord and Savior and walking those streets of gold. Dewey Brawner is survived by; Wife, Sue Neal Scruggs Brawner; Sons, Dewayne and wife, Mechelle Brawner, Scotty and wife, Tammy Brawner, and Zack Brawner; Daughter, Vanessa Brawner Ragland; Grandchildren, Amanda Flashner, Courtney Brawner, Nick Brawner, Zeke Brawner, and Nicky Shultz; Great-Grandchilren, Cameron Wohlgamuth, Kyra and Chloe Carver, and Conner Flashner; Brothers, Gene and wife, Betty Brawner and Dwight "Ike" and wife, Christine Brawner; Sisters, Cleopas and husband, Clint Sloan, Melvadean and husband, Alan Dilk, Evelyn Bandy, and Rita Brawner. Funeral services for Dewey Eldred Brawner were held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1pm from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend Joe West and Reverend Harold King officiating. Interment followed in the Miller's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Justin Dallas, Larry Dallas, Ron Cardwell, Randy Slayton, Eric Brawner, Kirk Wix, David Dilk and Chris Atkins.
