Obituary of Jo Etta Hackett Dorris

Jo Etta Hackett Dorris, age 95, passed away March 4, 2017 at her home in Gallatin. She was a lifelong resident of Sumner County and the daughter of the late Charlie E. and Willie Mai Hackett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Grimm Dorris; siblings, Oswald Hackett, George Hackett, Cecil Hart Hackett, Robbie Proctor and Jewel Carr and granddaughter, Lisa Badacour House. She is survived by daughters; Sherry Amsler (Ed), Cynthia Badacour (Don), Mohota Hampton (Randy) all of Gallatin and Janice Walls (Jim) of Murfreesboro; sisters, Billie Faye Cothron, Jean Harper and Carlene McCloud; grandchildren, Jenny Hampton Browning, Monte Martin, Lance Hampton, Jay Martin and Brad Badacour; great grandchildren, Lindsey Andrews, Ashley House Vinson, Brooks Browning, Amanda Martin, Gracie Hampton and Logan Badacour and great-great grandchildren, Bayleigh and Benton Andrews. She was a member of Gallatin First Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a faithful Christian. She treasured her family and was a devoted friend to many. Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. John Penfield at Gallatin First Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Gallatin Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Monday, March 6th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Family Heritage Funeral Home. Jo Etta would say that the greatest tribute people could pay her was to help others in her memory.
