Obituary of George R. Shawver

SHAWVER, George R., age 89, of Hermitage, TN died Friday October 9, 2015 at McKendree Village in Hermitage. He was born in Belpre, OH a son of the late James and Jessie (Jarvis) Shawver. George was a member of Mullen Memorial Baptist Church in Belpre, OH and was a United States Navy veteran having served on aircraft carriers in the Pacific during World War II. Mr. Shawver started the first taxi company in his hometown and attended Ohio University to become an accountant. He worked for Time Oil for 40 years, opening gas stations across the United States, before retiring to Las Vegas. He is survived by his stepsons, Carl Jackson and Robert Jackson (Gail); grandson, David Jackson (Annette) and two great-grandsons, Hawaii. He is also survived by his beloved friend, Shirley Werner of LV and many nieces and nephews including Barbara Shawver Bruggeman and Mark, Diane, and Justine Swaim of Mt. Juliet. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Shawver; and nine brothers and sisters. Services for Mr. Shawver were held on October 17th in Belpre, OH.
