Obituary of Alice E. Shrum

Alice E. Shrum, age 87 of Bethpage, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 22nd at 12:00 noon from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Eugene May and Sister Sue May officiating. Interment will be in Sumner Memorial Gardens with family serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Monday, December 21st from 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Shrum was born May 2, 1928 in Pickens County, SC, daughter of the late Charlie and Leila Roper Gantt. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, James Shrum; son, William Shrum; brothers, Cleo Gantt and Charles Gantt; sisters, Faye Wilhoit, Louise Barton and Bert Barnett. She is survived by sons, James Shrum (Janice) of Gallatin, Oscar Shrum (Becky) of Conway, AR, Donald Shrum (Gail) of Hartsville, Billy Joe Shrum (Wynelle) of Bethpage, Ernie Shrum of Gallatin; daughter, Louise “Susie” Elrod (Carl) of Bethpage; One grandhcild that she raised, Tina Slagle (Steve) of Portland, along with eleven other grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
