Obituary of John Douglas Claypool, Sr.

John Douglas Claypool, Sr., age 75 of Bethpage, passed away Saturday January 28, 2017. Funeral Service will be Wednesday February 1st at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Tracy Butt officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday January 31st from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday February 1st from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Rock Bridge Cemetery, with Tracy Butt, Caleb Butt, Randall Ladd, John Shelby Claypool, Hannah Ladd, and Jerry Carmack serving as pallbearers. Mr. Claypool was born September 8, 1941 in Claypool Hill, VA., to the late Harvey George Claypool, Sr. and Lydia Elswick Claypool. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Brian Trawick. He is survived by wife of 46 years, Frances Hill Claypool of Bethpage; son, John Douglas Claypool, Jr., (Melissa) of Bethpage; daughters, Shelena Butt (Tracy) of Portland, Velma Claypool of Elmwood, TN, and Brenda Claypool of Texas; brothers, Harvey George Claypool (Barbara) of Virginia and Ronnie Claypool of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Elizabeth Hurst (Betty) of Pinehurst, NC and Maxine Channon (Jim) of Warsaw, VA; 7 grandchildren, Tracy Truelove, Aaron Truelove, Carrie Martinez, Hannah Ladd, Caleb Butt, John Shelby Claypool, and Logan Claypool; 5 great grandchildren, Milo Ladd, Dylan Martinez, Dallas Martinez, Devin Martinez, and Bryce Trulove.
