Obituary of James Oliver Brown

James Oliver “J.O.” Brown, age 91 of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019.  Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 26th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Colovos officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, October 25th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 26th from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Adam Brown, Mark Brown, Johnny Griffin, Tom Kimes, and Chad Kimes serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Brown was born March 16, 1928 in Gallatin to the late Crate Herald Brown and Mary Beeman Brown.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Beeman Brown; and sister, Martha Carter.  He is survived by wife of 66 years, Patsy Swann Brown; sons, Mike Brown (Penny) of Lago Vista, TX and Mark “Peanut” Brown of Gallatin, TN; 3 grandchildren, Adam Brown (Chanda), Cindy Brown, and Sarah Hanel (Justin); and 3 great grandchildren, Adalynn Mae Brown, Cordelia Ann Brown, and Stratton Hanel.  Mr. Brown served our country in the United States Army.  He was Staff Sergeant stationed at Fort Richardson in Fairbanks, Alaska, Fort Lewis, Washington, Headquarters for the Company of the 3rd Battalion in the 23rd Infantry, 2nd Division (1948-1952).   J.O. worked for Englewood First Baptist Church from 1977-1991 and retired after 14 years of service.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
