Obituary of Myrtle Irene Yankee

Myrtle Irene Yankee, age 94 of Castalian Springs, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Windell Moore and Bro. Bary Ray officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 28th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 29th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with family serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Yankee was born September 20, 1925 in Gainesboro, TN to the late Oliver Lawson Anderson and Ruby Ella Allen Anderson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson R. Yankee; grandchildren, Jennifer Yankee, Melanie Faye Yankee, and Melissa Raye Yankee; brother, Ray Anderson; sisters, Doris Bybee (and husband, Odell Bybee) and Elise Hall (and husband, Bob Hall); and daughter-in-law, Georgia Bray Yankee. She is survived by sons, Philip Ray Yankee (Cynthia) of Portland and Eldon David Yankee (Carolyn) of Castalian Springs; sister-in-law, Joan Cenkush of South Bend, IN; 5 grandchildren, Bryan Yankee (Shasta), Caleb Yankee, Anna Yankee, Lisa Ratte, and Sabrina Millwood; 6 great grandchildren, Brooke Ratte, Brandon Ratte, Cara Millwood, Ella Yankee, Carly Yankee, and Cameron Yankee; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Yankee was a long-time member of Gallatin Church of God of Prophecy, and most recently a member of Roberts Tabernacle Church of God of Prophecy in Westmoreland.
