Obituary of Benton Charles Oliver

Benton Charles Oliver, age 79 of Gallatin, TN passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Funeral Service will be Monday, March 9th at 3:30 p.m. at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 2601 Cages Bend Road, Gallatin, TN 37066, with Rev. Sean Stanfield officiating. Visitation will be Monday, March 9th from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Greenville Union Cemetery, in Greenville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, Shriners Children’s Hospital c/o Al Menah Shrine Center, 1354 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN 37207, or Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 2601 Cages Bend Road, Gallatin, TN 37066. Mr. Oliver was born January 11, 1941 in Greenville, OH to the late Gladden C. Oliver and Pauline Gertrude Ault Oliver. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Charlotte Spencer. He is survived by wife of 59 years, Bonnie Spitler Oliver of Gallatin; children, Rebecca Reed (Keith) of South Lebanon, OH, Timothy Oliver (Claire) of Milford, OH, and Michael Oliver (Kay) of Bethpage, TN; brother, Roger Oliver (Jerri) of Greenville, OH; and 5 grandchildren, Lincoln Reed (Gabby), Olivia Reed, Samuel Oliver, Nora Oliver, and Kaitlyn Oliver. Mr. Oliver retired from Federated Funeral Directors of America after 25 years of service. Before that, he and his family owned and operated Oliver Funeral Homes in Greenville, Ohio and Ansonia, Ohio. He was a member and past Master of Greenville Masonic Lodge #143; a member of King Solomon Lodge #6 in Gallatin; a member of Scottish Rite and Al Menah Shriner in Nashville; and a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Gallatin, TN.
