Obituary of Horace Walton Garrison, Jr.

Horace Walton Garrison, Jr., age 74 of Cottontown, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 20th at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Walt Warren officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 19th from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 20th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens, with Horace Walton Garrison III, Allan Crooks, Jim Hinton, Don Rippy, Billy Rippy, and Danny Rippy serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hinton, Morse Conyer, Miller Johnson, Earl Russell and Jeff Goad. Mr. Garrison was born December 7, 1945 in Gallatin to the late Horace Walton Garrison, Sr and Leota Dell Latimer Garrison. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Maynor Garrison; children, Donna Gail Garrison Dorris of Cottontown, Horace Walton Garrison III (Amanda Lynn) of Cottontown, and Beth Angel Garrison-Crooks (Allan Crooks) of Gallatin; 3 grandchildren, Christian Tyler Carter, Ashlynn Elizabeth Garrison, and Garrison Elizabeth Crooks. Mr. Garrison owned Garrison Sawmill, which was started in 1928 by his grandfather and operated by four generations of Garrisons; it is located on the family farm on Garrison Branch Road. He was a member of Station Camp Baptist Church. Mr. Garrison loved red trucks and dogs and was a lifelong racing fan. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
