Obituary of Joyce Ann Sams-Allen

Joyce Sams-Allen passed away on October 22, 2020 at age 82. The Graveside Service, conducted by Brother Glenn Denton, is 1 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2020 at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Sams-Allen was born in Oneida TN to Gleason and Reba Ooten Jeffers. She married Wiley Sams on March 19, 1955 and they were married until his death on March 16, 1998. She married C.L. Allen on April 10, 2004 and they were married until his death on February 2, 2010. Joyce served as a waitress for Cracker Barrel for 24 years, 7 years at 109 and helped open and served at the Lebanon store on South Cumberland for 17 more years before retiring in September of 2001 for health reasons. She loved her Cracker Barrel family and all the customers she served. Mrs. Sams-Allen is survived by son Roy Sams, step-children Linda Sams McJenkin Steel, Charlie Allen, Cathy Link, Clara Allen Wiedlocher, and William Ward Allen, 11 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren, siblings Helen Houdeshell, Betty Smith, and James (Cindy) Jeffers, and special friends Penny Richard and Richard Jackson. She is preceded in death by husband Wiley Sams and C.L. Allen, daughters Helen Sams Mormon and Patricia Sams Prock, son Coy Sams, stepdaughter Regina Worboys, grandparents Oscar and Maggie Ooten, Sylvester and Lara Jeffers, parents Gleason and Reba Jeffers, brothers Billy Joe Jeffers, Kenneth Lee Jeffers, Danny Jeffers, Sylvester Jeffers, and sister Shirley Jeffers.
