Obituary of Betty Jo Cates

Betty Jo Cates, age 89 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020. Private Funeral Service will be Monday, November 30th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Private Interment will follow the service, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sumner County Food Bank, 1021 Woods Ferry Road, Gallatin, TN 37066. Mrs. Cates was born October 16, 1931 in Only, TN to the late Ruby L. Breece, Sr and Pearl Ethridge Breece. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Byron Cates; great grandson, Judah Fitzpatrick; and brothers, Jerry Breece and Ruby L. Breece, Jr. She is survived by sons, Dale Cates of Knoxville and Duane Cates (Elizabeth) of Gallatin; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Heilig (Jared), Cristi Jacques, Laura Fitzpatrick (Josh), Emily Barnes (Steven), and Chelsea Cates; and 8 great grandchildren, Ava Heilig, Ethan Heilig, Catherine Heilig, Junia Heilig, Rachel Fitzpatrick, Elias Fitzpatrick, August Barnes, and Maple Jo Barnes.
