Obituary of Allen Eugene Pryor

Allen Eugene Pryor, age 84 of Portland, TN passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Graveside Service will be Saturday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Gallatin Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Callis officiating. Mr. Pryor was born April 11, 1936 in Sumner County to the late General Edward Pryor and Annie Mae Adcock Pryor. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Hubert Pryor, Harold Pryor, and Howard Pryor; and sister, Lillian Carter. He is survived by sons, Dewayne Pryor (Kim Galea) of Tennessee, Terry Pryor of Indiana; daughter, Genia Pryor of Arizona; brother, Willie Pryor (Ossie) of Indiana; sisters, Katharine Witcher of Indiana and Mary Holland of Arizona; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Pryor served our country in the United States Army. He worked for John W. Carter and in the painting industry for many years. He enjoyed Bowling and was on several bowling teams throughout the years. He had a true love and passion for fishing and was well known by many in his Portland community as “The Catfish man”.
